Houston, TX — FOCUS North America is pleased to announce the appointment of Christine Nuñez as the new Center Director of FOCUS Houston, a community-based initiative serving vulnerable families across the city.
A Houston native and graduate of the College of Biblical Studies—located just next door to the new FOCUS Houston center—Christine brings over seven years of hands-on experience working with children and families in nonprofit settings. She most recently served on the Advisory Committee of FOCUS Houston before transitioning into this leadership role. Her deep roots in the community, combined with a heart for service, make her uniquely suited to lead the next chapter of the Center’s growth.
“Christine has already shown exceptional dedication to the mission of FOCUS through her service on the Houston Advisory Committee,” said Steven Christoforou, Executive Director of FOCUS North America. “Her passion, professionalism, and prayerful leadership will continue to strengthen our work in Houston—especially our outreach to mothers and children. We’re thrilled to have her at the helm.”
Since opening in 2023, FOCUS Houston has distributed over 2,500 diapers, clothing, and hygiene items through its essentials closet, and has supported dozens of mothers through ESL and Early Childhood Development classes. Under Christine’s leadership, the Center plans to expand its outreach, deepen community partnerships, and increase direct support for mothers and their children.
“I am thrilled to be a part of the FOCUS team and to be a part of this incredible mission for Houston families in my hometown,” said Nuñez. “God has opened the door for us to uplift mothers and families—right here in my hometown and an area in which I am quite familiar. I’m excited to serve for His glory and for the good of our community.”
Christine succeeds Susanne Haddad, the inaugural Center Director of FOCUS Houston, one of the first ministries developed under the new Center development process of FOCUS in 2023. In all, six of FOCUS’s eleven Centers have been developed under this process.
Executive Director Steve Christoforou said: “We’re so grateful to Susanne for her leadership in helping take the dream for a FOCUS Center in Houston and making it a reality. Her tenacity, creativity, and passion for service have laid a strong foundation for this ministry. We’ll miss Susanne and hope to work with her again as the ministry of FOCUS continues to take root across the country.”
The Board and Staff of FOCUS are incredibly grateful to Susanne for her work in the last few years, and wish her well in her future endeavors as she relocates to New Jersey.
