The Board of Directors of FOCUS North America (Fellowship of Orthodox Christians United to Serve) is delighted to announce the appointment of Steven Christoforou as Executive Director and Katrina Bitar as Director of Operations, effective immediately. Both leaders have served in their respective roles on an interim basis over the past four months, during which they have demonstrated exceptional dedication, vision, and effectiveness.
“This is an exciting new chapter for FOCUS North America,” said Brian Bullard, Chair of the FOCUS Board of Directors. “With Steven and Katrina, and the entire Executive Team, we are positioned to strategically grow our programs and deepen our impact across the country. Steven’s forward-thinking leadership and Katrina’s practical, community-centered expertise are exactly what we need to expand our reach, strengthen our partnerships, and serve even more of our neighbors in need. Their vision and commitment will be key as we build a stronger, more sustainable future for FOCUS and the communities we serve.”

“FOCUS North America has a legacy of making a profound impact in communities in need, and I am deeply honored to lead this organization into its next chapter,” said Steven Christoforou. “I look forward to continuing to work alongside our incredible team, volunteers, and partners as we advance the mission of bringing the love of Christ to those who need it most. I’m especially excited to appoint Katrina to her new role with FOCUS.”
Katrina Bitar, the newly appointed Director of Operations, has served FOCUS North America with distinction for fifteen years, including her impactful leadership as the Director of YES (Youth Equipped to Serve). Known for her tireless dedication to and emphasis on spiritual growth and personal connection, Katrina has built strong relationships with volunteers, donors, and community partners across the country. During the last four months as Interim Director of Operations, Katrina enhanced operational efficiencies and organizational culture, along with overseeing the seamless onboarding of three new FOCUS Center directors, with three more forthcoming.
“I am excited to continue supporting the incredible work of FOCUS North America in this new capacity,” said Katrina Bitar. “We are committed to empowering communities through formative service opportunities that uplift individuals, families, and entire parishes in service to their neighbors beyond their church walls.”
The appointments come at a pivotal time for FOCUS North America as the organization expands its efforts to combat poverty, food insecurity, and homelessness in urban centers across the United States. With Steven and Katrina at the helm, FOCUS is poised to deepen its impact and build on its mission to serve those in need without discrimination, offering dignity, hope, and transformative care.
FOCUS North America extends its gratitude to its staff and the Orthodox faithful who have supported the organization’s efforts during this leadership transition. Together, we look forward to advancing the mission of service and love in action.
