At FOCUS North America, our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. During National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 20-26), we took time to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary individuals who bring Christ’s love to life through their tireless service. Whether sorting donations, preparing meals, mentoring guests, or serving on advisory boards, every act of compassion helps manifest the Kingdom of God in our local communities.

Each volunteer plays a vital role in building not just programs, but relationships. As Hannah, a dedicated volunteer and advisory board member at FOCUS Cincinnati, shared:

“Volunteering has been a beautifully fulfilling and rewarding experience—to serve and meet our neighbors while helping unite the local pan-Orthodox community… The relationships formed during our events are just as valuable as the meals served.”

Hannah’s story is a beautiful reminder that service is not just about meeting physical needs—it’s about forming bonds, restoring dignity, and reflecting the transformative love of Christ in tangible ways.

We also honor Edward, a former guest at FOCUS Gateway City, who now gives back as a volunteer. His testimony speaks to the full circle of compassion:

“Being a guest of FOCUS was really new to me… it was exciting to know there are still people out there who really care and love you… My experience being a volunteer made me want to do more… I just can’t turn you all down.”

Edward’s journey shows the powerful ripple effect of mercy and belonging, and how service becomes a cycle of healing and hope.

To every volunteer—whether you’ve served once or every week—thank you. You are the hands and feet of Christ in the world. You make the Kingdom visible, one act of love at a time. We are deeply grateful for you.
