On Saturday, October 27th, YES was blessed to serve with a wonderful group of college students at Community First! Village in Austin, TX. This incredible ministry is a 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing and a supportive community for the chronically homeless in Central Texas. A development of Mobile Loaves & Fishes, this transformative residential program exists to love and serve people who have been living on the streets, while also empowering the surrounding community into a lifestyle of service with the homeless.
Our group attended a home blessing, where we offered prayers for and gifts to 3 new residents who were welcomed into their new homes. The Village is a place that enables people who are homeless to find refuge and heal. It’s a place where they can rediscover hope, renew their purpose and restore their dignity. Most importantly, it’s a place they can call home.
The students hope to stay connected to the beautiful ministry of Community First! Village, which is truly one of the most loving and God-filled places we had experienced.
College Days give students an opportunity to step away from the pressures of college life and engage with the reality of poverty that exists in their community. By seeking to serve others, students feel real peace and fulfillment.
