Position Title:
Programs & Volunteer Coordinator, FOCUS Houston
Position Type:
Part time – Hourly
Organizational Management Reporting:
- Reports to the Director of FOCUS Houston
- Works with FOCUS Houston Advisory Board (especially relevant Committees)
Responsibilities:
- Volunteers and staff who assist with pregnancy and family related work at the Center (classes, counseling, etc)
- Maintains schedule of volunteers and staff
- Oversees training and onboarding of new volunteers (trauma-informed care)
- Oversees continuing education of volunteers
- Works with Advisory Board to recruit new volunteers
- Volunteers and staff who assist with other pastoral work at the Center (tutoring, child care, etc)
- Maintains schedule of volunteers and staff
- Oversees training and onboarding of new volunteers
- Works with Advisory Board to recruit new volunteers
- Volunteers and staff who assist
- Maintains schedule of volunteers
- Works with Advisory Board to recruit new volunteers
- Programs for clients
- Establish & create programs for clients under the supervision of the Director and with input from relevant Advisory Board Committees
- Network with other organizations who can partner with FOCUS Houston
- Develop and schedule classes for clients
- Locate and connect with other nonprofits in Houston as referrals for our clients
- Follow up with clients after their visit to FOCUS Houston
- Work with clients to schedule followup visits
- Periodically review and improve upon FOCUS Houston processes under the supervision of the Center Director and with the support of relevant Advisory Board Committees
- Supports Director of FOCUS Houston with other necessary tasks, at the Director’s discretion
Education Experience:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree within a relevant field of study preferred
- Pastoral and educational experience
- Familiarity with the doctrines and traditions of the Orthodox Church
Core Competencies:
- Computer proficiency with Google suite
- Proficiency with social media platforms and their analytics
- Fluency in Spanish is an asset
- Service minded
- Cultural and local area sensitivity
- Ability to understand and work with homeless, impoverished, and / or vulnerable communities and demographics
- Demonstrates advanced communication skills (written and verbal)
Working Conditions:
- Must reside in general proximity of FOCUS Houston
- Nominal but present security risk working with vulnerable communities at FOCUS Houston events
