The YES Program of FOCUS North America is Youth Equipped to Serve. YES provides opportunities for junior high, high school students, and college students to participate in formative weekends of service that aim to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor and bring youth to an awareness of Christ in themselves and others. Through this experience, we aim to identify and cultivate leadership gifts in trip participants, with the ultimate purpose being to raise up service leaders who will lead others in loving and serving our most needy neighbors in their own communities and on future YES trips.
Our goal is to ensure that all school-age children have the appropriate clothing and school supplies they need learn in a secure and comfortable way. Thousands of children head back to school every year without the times many of us take for granted. Since 2012, hundreds of thousands of children affected by homelessness and poverty in over 30 cities have received new high-quality shoes, backpacks, coats, and other school supplies through this program.
FOCUS’ Tackle Poverty initiative began in 2009 with the support of Theodora Polamalu, FOCUS Advisory Board Member, and her husband Troy, retired All-Pro Safety with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
We are proud to be the featured outreach of our nonprofit partner, Renovation Angel. Our friends at Renovation Angel recycle kitchens, bathrooms, and other large household appliances that would otherwise be headed for the landfill. Renovation Angel is creating jobs, protecting the environment, and supporting non-profit organizations that offer outreach programs in youth-at-risk, addiction recovery, job creation, and/or social entrepreneurship.
